授業の目的 |
This class has two purposes. Firstly, it will introduce students to some interesting recent decisions made by the English courts in the field of human rights law. In 1998 the European Concention on Human was incoporated into English law by the Human Rights Act. This Act has important implications in the many areas of law, particularly criminal law and family law. Secondly, this class will give students the opportunity to read and discuss law in English. This will improve students ability to comprehend and communicate about law in English. |

A precise list of topics to be studied will be given in the first class. The following is an indicative list of topics to be addressed:
Child abduction
Transsexuality
Euthanasia and assisted suicide
Refusal of medical treatment
Religious freedom

授業の進め方 |
Students are expected to come to the class well-prepared and will be expected to speak about the materials in English. |

There is no set textbook for this class. Relevant materials will be indicated to the students each week. |
| 成績評価の方法・基準 |
Students will be assessed for this class based on three criteria:
1. Class attendance
2. Class Participation
3. Completion of a class report to be submitted at the last class.
