Course Overview |
This course introduces students to an overview of the theories and methods of International Politics/ International Relations and incorporates extensive data (quantitative and qualitative). The course provides four basic theories (Realism, Liberalism, Marxism, and Constructivism) and four basic methodologies (bibliographic survey, constructing/ testing models, quantitative and qualitative analysis). Students will come to understand the triangular relation among theory, methods, and data, and they will examine the major theoretical propositions by using specific methodologies for data analysis. The course will introduce concepts like actor, preference, structure, levels of analysis, international system, and international order as a main framework for analyzing International Politics/ International Relations. |
