In this class, we read foreign legal materials in English. Each week, a recent court decision from English law will be read and discussed in class. |

本コースでは、英米法における様々なテーマについて考察する。英語技能の３要素（読解、会話、リスニング）の向上に焦点を当て、各クラス所定の教材に基づき、英語のみでネイティブにより授業が行われる。 |

授業の概要・計画 |
Every week we will read one case from English or US law and discuss the case together.
The cases will focus on human rights law, particularly the following three human rights:
The Right to Religious Freedom
The Right to Freedom of Speech in a Social Media Age
The Right to Refuse Medical Treatment |

授業の進め方 |
Every week we will read one recent court decision from English law and discuss the case together. The class discussion will be conducted entirely in English. |
| 教科書・参考書等 |
There will be no textbook. Class materials will be provided on a week-to-week basis. The cases will be edited and the average case will be 3-5 pages. |
| 成績評価の方法・基準 |
Students will be evaluated based on:
(1) Class attendance
(2) Class participation
(3) A 3-4 pages Final Class Report to be submitted at the end of the class. Students must choose one of the cases discussed in class and write their opinion on the court’s decision. |

This class will be taught entirely in English. Reading the materials in advance will help in following the class discussion and doing well. |
