Faculty of Law, Kyushu University and Department of Innovation & Digitalization in Law, Vienna University held an online workshop on the 3rd of December, 2021. The workshop was intended to introduce important but little explored topics in each jurisdiction and exchange views on their specific or/and potential regulations. The very first workshop allowed the two teams to learn from each other’s presentations how we legally address some issues arising from the utilization of cutting-edge technologies.
Prof. Kojima from Kyushu University gave insights into his current interdisciplinary research on the Ethical, Legal and Social Issues (ELSI) of Urban Air Mobility (UAM), while Dr. Steindl from Vienna University presented the European perspective and the latest European regulatory developments on emotion AI.
Following these presentations, the faculty members of Kyushu University and of Vienna University engaged in in-depth discussions, concluding the workshop with some open questions to be tackled at another opportunity and promising to continue further exchanges. The successful exchange encouraged both the institutions to arrange the next workshop, which is scheduled in the second quarter of 2022.
