Faculty of Law, Kyushu University and Department of Innovation and Digitalization in Law, Vienna University held an online workshop on April 6th, 2022. It was the 2nd workshop after last December when Kyushu and Vienna conducted the first one and decided to hold regular workshops. The workshop between the two universities aims to explore topics of relevance in Japan and Europe and exchange various views on specific regulations introduced in each jurisdiction.
From Kyushu, Dr. Peter Lee, presented his ongoing research on “Legal Issues in the Use of Blockchain Technology in Maritime Transport Documentation: Focusing on Blockchain Bills of Lading” while from Vienna, Dr. Richard Rak gave a presentation on “Legal Requirements Deriving From the Qualification Assessment of Internet of Health Things and Interconnected Software (AI Systems) under EU Law”.
Both presentations were followed by interesting exchanges and suggestions, including the points raised by the speakers.
The inter-jurisdictional, enriching workshop is going to continue, and discussions about the schedule and topics for the next workshop are underway.
