TERM
Two options are available:
Option 1: The Two Weeks Model
Expected Arrival Date in Japan: June 3-4, 2017
Classes Taught: June 5 – June 17, 2017 (An orientation will be held on the morning of June 5)
Expected Departure Date: June 18, 2017 (Students may choose to extend their stay, if they wish)
Students who successfully complete the 2 courses offered will be awarded a Diploma in Law & Innovation issued by Kyushu Summer Institute.
Option 2: The Six Weeks Model
Expected Arrival Date in Japan: June 3-4, 2017
Classes Taught: June 5 – July 18, 2017 (An orientation will be held on the morning of June 5)
Expected Departure Date: July 19, 2017 (Students may choose to extend their stay, if they wish)
Students who successfully complete the 4 courses offered will be awarded a Diploma in Law & Innovation issued by Kyushu Summer Institute

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS
Up to ten students will be admitted for the 2017 Summer Institute.
ELIGIBILITY
For admission to the Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. An undergraduate degree from an accredited university. If this degree is not in law, some additional explanation of motives for study will be required in Section 5 of the Application Form.
2. A good command of English. Although there is no formal language requirement, a TOEFL score of 237+ (computer-based), 580+ (paper-based), or 92+ (Internet-based) or equivalent would be expected for non-native English speakers.
3. Sufficient financial support for the duration of the program. Further details on the costs are available in the Fees & Other Costs section below.

COURSES & TIMETABLE
The following four courses will be offered in the 2017 Summer Institute:
a. Japanese Intellectual Property Law & Practice (Teramoto)
b.Creative Economy and Cultural Diversity (Kojima)
c. Business Law in a Networked Age (Vermeulen & Fenwick)
d. Introduction to European IT Law (Forgo)

Each class is 90 minutes. Courses a and b are taught twice a week within the framework of both the two and four weeks models.
Intensive classes (i.e. c and d above) are taught 15 times each over the first two weeks of the program.
