Last semester, we had a class called “U.S. Constitutional Law” taught by Dr. Jones, Kimberly from Michigan, a Fulbright Scholar invited to Faculty of Law, Kyushu University.
Through this course, we learned about the history of the United States and the evolution of the U.S. Constitution. We also had a moot court related to U.S. Constitutional issues in the last 4 classes, and my group tackled racial issues. The moot court experience was extremely challenging for me since I was not familiar with how to prepare. However, with Dr. Jones’ help, we were able to complete the moot court classes. Despite the short time, I came to learn a lot while thinking more profoundly about the debatable points through this amazing experience.
What I learned from this course was that the U.S. Constitution reflects the history of discrimination in America. Discrimination has had a significant impact on the American legal system and society, and the Constitution has been amended to address it.
Although all classes were taught in English and it was difficult for me to understand at times, Dr. Jones and Prof. Igimi’s support made this course beneficial for both my English and legal studies. I’d like to express my sincere gratitude here again for their tremendous support.
