1st Years’ English Class

First year students take an English class once a week in the GV Program. Last year, we practiced reading, listening and speaking every week. For example, we read a book about globalization and presented its contents to our classmates. We also read a novel-like book and took vocabulary quizzes based on our reading, which helped us improve our vocabulary knowledge.
All conversations in this class should be in English, so you might be afraid to join it. At first, I was also nervous and could not express exactly what I wanted to say in English. However, this English class was conducted in a small group, which helped create an informal atmosphere. In addition, our tutor used easier expressions for difficult English words that we could not understand very well in reading sessions. In listening sessions, he kindly repeated some parts that we could not catch.
Thanks to this student-friendly environment, we became used to speaking in English in front of others and asking questions to our tutor more freely. I can assure you that learning English will be more fun with the GV Program!
